Purpose

Foundations is essentially a CrossFit 101 course that teaches the foundational movements of CrossFit, as well as other movements that are frequently used during the Workout of the Day (WOD). This program also introduces you to terminology, common acronyms, culture, benchmark workouts, and the significance of Hero WODs.

Primary Focus

First and foremost we focus on your safety. The more we can educate you about your body, and how to move it correctly, the less likely you are to injure yourself. Numerous studies have demonstrated that more Coach involvement directly correlates to a decreased injury rate. This is one of the main purposes in our presence; keeping you from injuring yourself. In addition to guiding you in correct movement patterns, we will also help you identify and respond to your own body cues. When form is compromised, gains are minimized, and you set yourself up for injury.

An Introduction to Your Social Environment

Humans are pack animals by nature. This isn't a bad thing. For many people, CrossFit T9000 is their second home. Strong bonds through sweat and tears have been formed with people who workout together. This scenario can be intimidating for some who are new to the atmosphere. Remember that every one of us was new at some point. Trust that our community is very welcoming and excited to have you become a part of it. One day you will be the first to welcome a new member at the door and high five them at the end of an intense workout. At first, you may feel "This is not my house and I do not know the rules." The Foundations program groups everyone new together with a Coach as a guide. Here is where we will also introduce rules of the Gym (commonly referred to as the "Box") and how things operate. This allows you to get an idea of the social atmosphere without feeling like a fish out of water. Ask questions! We emphasize an open and sharing environment where all are respected as having valuable input.

Modifications

Each body is different and the Foundations course allows Coaches to get to know every new member and their physical challenges. The Foundations course helps us, as coaches, to learn about each person individually. This allows us to plan how we can program workouts for your specific needs. Every movement will be adjusted to your level of strength, flexibility, agility, and endurance. Our success requires you to succeed.

An Emphasis on Nutrition

"You can't outrun a bad diet." Fitness, health, and functionality go hand in hand with nutrition. Without the nutrition component you will not maximize the results from your exercise regimen. Nutrition is the foundation that fitness and strength are built on. We will introduce you to the basics of healthy nutrition for performance.

Our CrossFit 101 course is one of the most important components of both your and our road to success because it builds the foundation for each and every member of our box. The main focus of Foundations is to keep you safe and injury free. This is the beginning of a healthy and happy adventure to a better you.
